Main Focus: Spelling – its or it’s Ch 4-13

In this KS2 resource we have focused on the spelling of ‘its’ and ‘it’s’. The first task is to distinguish the writers use in the blurb of these two spellings. Your class will look at extracts taken from chapters 17 to 18 of ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ and distinguish the what word class the underlined word is. Main Focus: Figurative Language (Whole Book)

The author uses many different types of figurative language in the book. This resource is designed to help your class identify the different types of figurative language that has been used to deepen their understanding and also begin to reflect on how they affect the reader.

We have taken different phrases from the whole book of ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ and beside each phrase your Year 5 / Year 6 kids will have to identify the type of figurative language that has been used.

The types of figurative language included are: simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration and idiom.
