He then starts to enjoy life a little more.

This is a word mat and cloze activity to complete with your class.

Your children can use the mat to complete the other resource or they can use the mat to help with independent writing.

Your KS1 class will read the passage and will place the underlined words into alphabetical order. They can then choose a few words of their own.

Main Focus: Phonics

This activity is linked to phonics and involves your class finding sounds within words.

Your class will read the passage and identify words with the chosen sounds. We have also included blank resources so your class can choose their own sounds.

Main Focus: Rhyming

This activity focuses on your class identifying rhyming words to complete the sentences.

This is a useful resource when covering poetry as it introduces your class to AA rhyming couplets.

At the end of the activity, your class will match the rhyming words from The Koala Who Could story.

Main Focus: Questions and Answers

This activity focuses on questions and answers. 

Your Ks1 class will use the information in the answers to write suitable questions linked to the book.

We have also includes a question and answers matching activity. It might be useful to let your class cut out the questions and answers and match as many as they can.

In this activity, your Year 1 / Year 2 class will read the events from the story and place them into chronological order.

Your KS1 class will sequence the events based on their recollection of The Koala Who Could story.
