This is a useful resource for Ks1 that can be used as a reference during independent writing.

It is also a cloze activity whereby the children must add in the words or pictures to complete the sentences depending on whether they are Year 1 or Year 2.

In this activity your class will read the passages and sequence the events into chronological order.

It would be useful for the children to cut out the passages to give them the chance to sequence, cross reference and correct themselves.

Main Focus: Vocabulary Extension

In this story Benji Davies has used some lovely phrases and vocabulary.

We have chosen some of the words to focus on and your class will add those words to the context used in the story.

Discussion afterwards would prove useful and giving the children the opportunity to write the words in a new context would help consolidate their understanding.

Main Focus: Alphabetical Order

In this reading activity, your Ks1 class will focus on alphabetical order.

Your class will order the chosen words in alphabetical order and then create a list of their own to show their understanding.

We have created different levels of difficulty to cater for both Year 1 and Year 2 classes.

Main Focus: Adjectives

In this activity your class will place the adjectives into the sentences to complete the passage.

Main Focus: Questioning

Your class will look at the answers given and then write a suitable question to match.

For the younger children they can match up the questions to the answers.

Main Focus: Comprehension

This is a comprehension that can be completed after the story and other tasks have been completed with your class.
